Top Tory loses his seat 

Conservatives maintain control despite Walcot defeat to Labour
 
At 2.30am this morning it was revealed that one of the top Tory's in Swindon lost his Walcot seat to Swindon’s first black woman councillor.
 
Councillor Peter Mallinson lost to debut candidate Ellen Osa, who polled more than double the number of votes received for Coun. Mallinson, a prominent member of the Tory cabinet.

“Obviously we are all very disappointed Peter lost,” commented Council leader Rod Bluh, who spoke on Peter's behalf.

“Walcot was the seat we were the most concerned about. It’s not an unexpected business."
 
Mr Bluh himself was re-elected in Dorcan after defeating Labour's Sarah Bush in a tight contest.

Conservatives 41
Labour 13
Liberal Democrats 4
Independent 1
